SVF’s beautiful 48-acre property includes spacious pastures, a tree-lined creek, a 13-stall bank barn, and two arenas with jumps. When you visit our facility, you’ll see why we were awarded “Best Horseback Riding in Chester County” by the Daily Local News. Contact us today for inquiries.
HORSE BOARDING
Our main service involves equine boarding. The Kenny family lives on the property and provides high-quality care to all our boarded horses. Maria Kenny, the owner, and manager of our equestrian center, attends to all of our horses. She also provides you with regular updates while your horses stay with us.
Our bank barn has a tack room, feed room, horse stables, and concrete floors with matted stalls. As for the outdoor area, it includes three fenced paddocks. It also has two large pastures that collectively span 35 acres and feature a creek running along the length of the property.
The equestrian center has two outdoor rings measuring 190 feet x 90 feet and 190 feet x 65 feet. It also has access to horseback riding trails. Rest assured your horses aren’t bound to a paddock and can run free on the many acres of rolling pasture dotted with trees.
Our pastures remain lush and vibrant during the summer, so your horses enjoy the outdoors while always having access to fresh, clean water. We’ve also partnered with Brandywine Conservancy to maintain the integrity of our grounds.
Please note that the grain included in our full and field boarding services measures up to 6 quarts per day. It also contains your choice of various feeds, although extra grain quantities are available for an additional fee. In addition, we use Timothy Hay® and Orchard Grass®. Up to 20 pounds of hay are fed to our animals per day (usually during the winter months).

Full Board
Full horse boarding includes joint care by the horse’s owner and our staff. Please note that you’ll need to provide us with your horse’s blankets, fly masks, and supplements. A full stay at our center includes:
- Access to a Large Box Stall
- Feeding of Hay and Grain Twice a Day
- Administration of All Supplements and Medications
- Daily Visual Checkups
- Cleaned Stalls Once a Day
- Long Turnouts
Partial Full Board
Horses under our partial full boarding service will still enjoy the outdoors daily. In addition, they’ll have a stall in our stables during inclement weather, sickness, or injury. The SVF stall will determine when it's necessary to put your horse in a stall.
Full-Field Board
This option allows your horse to enjoy the outdoors every day while still having access to the large, run-in shed. Our full-field boarding service has limited availability. If your horse becomes sick or is injured, you’ll incur an extra fee for stall usage.
Training Board
This service is perfect for young horses that need to be started or older horses with various problems. We can help adjust your horse’s behavior, making them calmer and more amenable to people. Our team is prepared to administer an appropriate training program.

- Stall Confinement and Daily Stall Cleaning
- Limited Turnout in the Paddock
- Administration of Any Needed Medications
- Supervision from the Equestrian Center
- Bandage Changes (NOTE: Supplies must be provided by the horse’s owner.)
We Know Each Horse Is Unique
We’re more than happy to accommodate special requests or instructions on top of boarding or layup. These additional services may include veterinary assistance, changing of dressings, etc. However, please note that these may incur an additional fee.

Our instructors have decades of experience training riders and horses alike, and we offer lessons that fit all skill levels.
We want every student to have an enjoyable and comfortable experience with our equine friends. Our farm features ponies and horses of varying sizes, so just about every person will find a mount that suits them. The horses are trained by our staff so that we can provide you with a safe experience.

Sunset Valley Farm (SVF) offers individual lessons for varying skill levels and ages. Lessons include the basics surrounding caring for horses, and students of the appropriate age are encouraged to tack up their horses. Send us a message to svfmlk@gmail.com to book an appointment.
Lessons are offered Monday -Sunday. Weekdays 9-1 and 3-sunset. Weekends 9-2 pm. We encourage adult riders to take advantage of lessons on weekday mornings. Each private lesson is 30 minutes.

During the winter months, we offer lessons when the weather is 40 degrees and above and ring conditions are good.
We offer one-time lessons for those not purchasing a package priced at:$55 for a half-hour and $110 for one hour.
There is a 9% increase for riding lessons beginning January 1, 2022. This is due to the increase in the cost of feed, hay, straw, vet care, farrier, and dentist.
Instructor Experience & Equine Skills
SVF employs six(6) riding instructors - all are experienced equestrians, love working with horses and children. Each instructor is unique and can teach a different skill set to you or your child. Each instructor is carefully vetted by Maria Kenny to ensure they fit within the strict requirements of working at SVF.

MINI LESSONS:
Introduce a young rider to the basics of grooming and riding with our mini-lessons. Instructors teach on a lead line while riders learn to walk, turn, and stop their pony while riding through an obstacle course.
Kids aged four to five get a private, 15-minute session for just $35.A package of four lessons is priced at just $130. Boot & helmet rental 2.50 per item per lesson.

BEGINNER TO ADVANCED LESSONS:
Learn one on one from our instructors with packages of four and eight lessons. Schedule one to two lessons per week to ensure the student understands the basics of grooming and tacking up. Once your child is comfortable with the horse, most lessons are conducted from a lunge line. Basic riding aides are taught, and jumping is done according to the instructor’s discretion. When the student progresses through these lessons, you can step up to the intermediate and advanced lessons.
Birthday Parties/Special Events
Sunset Valley Farm offers a unique opportunity to make your next special event unforgettable. The 1,000 square-foot outdoor pavilion on our beautiful front pasture is the perfect place to host your next get-together. And, with our trained horses and ponies, you can treat your guests to an exciting riding experience.
Birthday Parties
Call our staff to plan a memorable birthday party with horses and ponies. You can choose one of our event packages or customize your own with the caterer of your choice. Parties include use of our picnic pavilion, SVF staff to help set up and clean up, mini riding lesson for your guests. Additional services such as crafts, pinata can be added for an additional fee.
Please note: parties are not recommended for children under the age of 5. We need at least 2 weeks' advanced notice to reserve a date.
One-of-a-Kind Special Occasions
We have hosted bachelorette parties, corporate events, family reunions, marriage proposals and even a rustic wedding! If you want to plan a special event at our facility, please contact Maria Kenny for details and pricing.

Scout Programs
Earn Scout Badges in Chester CountySunset Valley Farm is a popular destination for the scouts to earn their respective badges. The program includes completing all of the necessary badge requirements as well as an opportunity to groom, tack up, and have a mini riding lesson. Water Drop Badge
This new badge was developed in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to encourage girls to become knowledgeable about watersheds and wetlands in their area.
Sunset Valley Farm is proud to be protected by the Brandywine Conservancy. The Valley Creek runs right through our pasture and provides a home for a wide variety of wildlife, including great blue herons, egrets, snapping turtles, Canada geese, and lots of deer. The creek has natural brown trout, bass, rainbow trout - and have you seen those huge carp under the bridge?
Since our horses drink the creek water, we're very cautious about the environment. So we've created a program to help you earn your Water Drop Badge and learn about the creek.
