Comprehensive Horse Education:
Sunset Valley Farm's summer riding program will give your child an exciting and educational experience. The program includes general learning about horses, horse care, safety and tack (horse riding equipment). Your child will also be exposed to the various types of riding including, English, Hunter/Jumper. The same counselors/instructors teach year after year for consistency. They interact with the children and show a genuine care for the child's riding development and aim to ensure every child has a fun week.
Small Groups = Personalized attention and more riding time
We limit each session 1:1 for riding and 5:1 for arts/classes. Each child will have their own pony for the week (depends on child's riding ability).
We limit the total amount of children to 25 per week. This ensures your child's safety as well as personalized attention.
Each child will have a half hour private riding lesson each day with a qualified instructor. The remainder of the day is spent learning horsemanship, crafting an art project, learning and dance routine, caring for tack and the ponies after riding. With so much to do, our time at Sunset Valley Farm flies and the children are left yearning for more time with us!
Fun Extra-Cirricular Activities:
Unlimited water or lemonade is offered daily. Campers enjoy funfilled acitivity which includes horsemanship classes (care of horses), games, crafts, painting, horse mane braiding, making horse treats or painting the ponies! The week ends with a horse show and parents, relatives and friends are invited.
Sunset Valley Farm owns 48 acres along Valley Creek Road. The property (farmhouse and barn) is surrounded by trees, hills and large pastures. They will have the opportunity to see many forms of wildlife during their stay with us. We have a newly reconstructed riding arena. There is not a better place for your child to spend his/her week with horses on our beautiful property.
Flexible Time Schedule:
Camp runs from 9 a.m. to 1:30p.m. Monday through Friday (before and aftercare is available for an additional fee). Wear comfortable clothes, including long pants and shoes (not flip flops), pack a lunch, and bring a bathing suit/towel, a pair of shorts and those flip flops for non-riding activities. You'll also need sunscreen, a helmet (we have riding helmets at the barn if you do not own one) and riding boots (or any boot with a heel- again we provide riding boots).
All children ride, do crafts, and learn together. We do not divide children according to age.
If your child is an advanced rider, we have special programs designed specifically for him/her. Please inquire. Our low child to counselor ratio (1:1 for riding and 5:1 for art and classes) will ensure the attention and learning experience your child deserves!
The hours are 8am - 8:45am and after camp 1:30-4:30pm. The weekly rate is $120.00 per child per week (This rate is for the full day). If you need extra hours, please email Maria and she will give you a quote. Light snack and beverage is included in the price. This option must be included at registration so that we can plan to have the correct staff.
We also offer an hourly rate if you need care only a couple days during the week. The hourly rate is 10.00 per hour per child. Sometimes, the students want to stay a little longer with their friends and this gives parents extra personal time. A light snack and beverage is included in the price. To reserve a spot, please indicate during registration in "additional notes." Fee is paid each Thursday.
Activities during aftercare include scheduled hikes on the property, more hands on experience with horses and light barn work, extra arts and crafts, board games, yard games. You can also schedule a riding lesson for your child at a discounted rate of 35.00 per half hour.
Sign up for aftercare must be done on the first day of camp or we cannot guarantee availability. The ratio is 5:1.
